Pixel Sorting
A glitch aesthetic where rows or columns of pixels are sorted by brightness or hue, creating dripping streaks. Kim Asendorf popularized it in 2010 with his ASDF Pixel Sort scripts.

Spot it
- 01Dripping color streaks
- 02Sorted gradient bands
- 03Sharp unsorted regions
Why it happens
An algorithm reorders the pixels inside a line within a chosen brightness threshold, so ordered gradients stretch across the picture where the threshold applies.

Image edit prompt“Apply a pixel-sorting glitch to this image: the brightest areas dissolve into long vertical streaks of sorted pixels dripping downward, ordered smoothly from dark to light, while the darker parts remain untouched and sharp. Leave clean boundaries between sorted and unsorted regions. Keep the original subject and composition.”
