Photogrammetry
The reconstruction of 3D models from many overlapping photographs. Archaeologists, game artists and filmmakers used it widely in the 2010s to scan real objects and places with accurate surface texture.

Spot it
- 01Noisy scanned textures
- 02Baked-in lighting
- 03Melted-edge meshes
Why it happens
Software matches features across photos, solves camera positions and triangulates points into a 3D mesh, then projects the photographs back on it as texture.

Image edit prompt“Render this image as a photogrammetry scan viewed in a 3D viewer: the subject as a textured mesh with slightly melted, noisy geometry on thin parts, flat baked-in lighting, tiny stitched texture seams, holes where coverage was missing and a neutral grey background with a faint grid. Keep the original subject and composition.”
