Wiener Deblurring
A restoration filter based on Norbert Wiener's 1940s statistical work that reverses a known blur while limiting noise amplification. It recovers sharpness from motion or defocus blur, with some ringing.

Spot it
- 01Recovered edge sharpness
- 02Faint ringing halos
- 03Amplified fine grain
Why it happens
In the frequency domain, the blurred image is divided by the blur's response, damped by a noise-to-signal term so weak frequencies are not amplified into noise.

Image edit prompt“Apply Wiener deconvolution to a blurry version of this image: recovered crisp edges and detail, slight ringing halos around high-contrast contours, some amplified fine noise grain, a gritty restored-photograph look with improved legibility. Keep the original subject and composition.”
