Seam Carving
Shai Avidan and Ariel Shamir introduced it in 2007: content-aware resizing that removes the least important connected pixel paths. It shrinks images while keeping subjects, though it can warp straight lines.

Spot it
- 01Squeezed empty regions
- 02Subject kept intact
- 03Bent wavy backgrounds
Why it happens
A low-energy path of pixels, one per row from top to bottom, is found with dynamic programming and removed; repeating this narrows the image through the least detailed areas.

Image edit prompt“Apply seam carving to this image to make it much narrower: empty background areas squeezed and removed while the main subject keeps its proportions, slightly bent and wavy lines in the background where paths were removed, no cropping of the subject. Keep the original subject and composition.”
