Optical Flow Vectors
Optical flow estimates the apparent motion of each region between frames, shown as colored hues or arrows. Horn–Schunck and Lucas–Kanade introduced classic methods in 1981; it powers stabilization and tracking.

- 01Hue-coded motion map
- 02Arrow field overlay
- 03Colored moving silhouettes
Why it happens
Assuming brightness stays constant as things move, the algorithm solves for a small displacement vector at each pixel that explains the change between two frames.

Image-to-video prompt“Animate this image as an optical flow visualization: a subtle camera drift produces a hue-coded motion map overlay, direction as color and speed as brightness, with a grid of small white arrows showing movement, the subject in motion. Keep the subject and composition recognizable.”
