GAN Portraits
Photoreal faces of people who do not exist, produced by generative adversarial networks, an idea introduced by Ian Goodfellow and colleagues in 2014. They fueled debates about fake profiles and synthetic media.

Why it happens
A generator learns to create faces while a discriminator tries to spot fakes, and their competition pushes realism, though errors linger in backgrounds, hair and accessories.

Image edit prompt“Give this image the look of an early synthetic-portrait generation, as a stylistic effect only: very smooth even skin, centered framing, an out-of-focus background with slightly melted, dreamlike shapes, soft studio lighting, and subtle warping in hair strands and accessories. Do not alter, replace or change anyone's face or identity. Keep the original subject and composition.”
