Duotone
A two-color treatment that maps an image's tones between a dark ink and a light ink. It comes from printing with two inks and became a mainstay of 2010s web, poster and music graphics.

Spot it
- 01Two vivid colors
- 02High-contrast tonal mapping
- 03No in-between hues
Why it happens
The picture is converted to grayscale and each brightness level is mapped along a gradient between just two chosen colors, which removes all other hues.

Image edit prompt“Convert this image into a bold duotone: map the shadows to deep indigo and the highlights to hot pink, with every tone in between a smooth blend of just those two colors, strong contrast and no other hues. Make it look like a modern poster print. Keep the original subject and composition.”
