Semantic Segmentation Map
A picture in which every pixel is painted with the color of its category, such as road, sky, person or tree. Fully convolutional networks, introduced by Jonathan Long and colleagues in 2015, made this practical.

Spot it
- 01Flat category colors
- 02Smooth region borders
- 03Same color per class
Why it happens
Assigns a class label to every pixel with a neural network, then maps each label to a fixed color, so all objects of one category share one color.

Image edit prompt“Convert this image into a semantic segmentation map: paint every pixel with a flat solid color by category, for example sky blue, vegetation green, ground brown, buildings gray, people red, with no texture, shading or outlines. Region borders are smooth and clean. Keep the original subject and composition recognizable.”
