Saliency Map
A heat map of the places a viewer's eye is most likely to go. The influential Itti, Koch and Niebur model of 1998 predicted attention from color, intensity and orientation contrast, and the idea guides cropping and layout.

Spot it
- 01Bright attention hotspots
- 02Dark ignored regions
- 03Blurry heat-glow blobs
Why it happens
Computes center-surround contrast in color, brightness and orientation at several scales, normalizes each feature map and sums them into one map of how much each region stands out.

Image edit prompt“Convert this image into a saliency map: grayscale or a hot colormap where the areas that draw the eye, such as faces, high-contrast objects and bright colors, glow brightest with soft blurry edges, and ordinary background fades to near black. No fine detail. Keep the original subject and composition recognizable.”
