Normal Map
An image that stores a surface's facing direction in red, green and blue instead of color. Used throughout 3D graphics to fake fine relief, it also guides relighting and detail-aware generation.

Spot it
- 01Lavender-blue base color
- 02Pink and green edge tints
- 03Embossed relief detail
Why it happens
Encodes the unit surface normal at each pixel as RGB, with x mapped to red, y to green and z to blue, so flat areas appear as uniform pale blue.

Image edit prompt“Convert this image into a tangent-space normal map: flat surfaces show as a uniform lavender-blue, while slopes tint toward pink and red on right-facing sides, green on upward-facing sides and purple on others, revealing embossed relief detail across the subject. No lighting, shadows or photographic color. Keep the original composition recognizable.”
