Light Field Refocus
A kind of photograph that records the direction of incoming light, letting you change focus after shooting. Ren Ng's research led to the Lytro cameras in 2012, an early consumer attempt.

- 02Layered depth blur
- 03Slightly soft low resolution
Why it happens
A microlens array captures many slightly different viewpoints in one shot, and the images can be recombined to simulate focusing at any depth.

Image edit prompt“Re-render this image as a light field photograph: the focus set on a chosen foreground element with crisp detail, the midground gently soft and the background in a smooth layered blur, slight depth separation between layers, and a gently low-resolution, slightly soft digital look. Keep the original subject and composition.”
