Fur Simulation
Digital grooming and physics that give characters millions of individual moving hairs. Pixar's Monsters, Inc. (2001) showed it with Sulley, and later films refined the look of fur, hair and grass.

Spot it
- 01Individual fine strands
- 02Soft backlit rim glow
- 03Wind-ruffled fluffy layers
Why it happens
Thousands to millions of curves are grown from a surface, shaded for translucency and self-shadowing, and moved by physics so they bend, clump and react to wind.

Image edit prompt“Cover the subject of this image in richly detailed simulated fur: millions of individual fine strands in layered colors, soft translucent rim light glowing along the tips, tiny flyaway hairs, gentle wind ruffling and clumping, and dense dark undercoat shadows near the skin. Keep the original subject, pose and composition.”
