Speed Ramping
A video edit that smoothly shifts footage between slow motion and normal or fast speed within one shot. Action films of the 2000s, 300 among them, popularized the dramatic slow-fast pulse, and it later became a staple of sports edits.

Spot it
- 01Sudden slow-motion hang
- 02Motion blur surges
- 03Rhythmic fast-slow pulses
Why it happens
The playback rate is keyframed over time, with frames held or interpolated in the slow sections, so action feels stretched at the peak and snaps back to full speed.

Image-to-video prompt“Animate this image as a speed-ramped shot: motion starts at real-time speed with a fast push-in, abruptly slows to dramatic slow motion at the peak moment with floating dust and hair detail, holds for a beat, then snaps back to fast speed with heavy motion blur. Punchy contrast and a slight camera shake. Keep the original subject and composition.”
