Fractal Flames
Glowing, silky fractal images produced by iterating nonlinear transformations and plotting the results as density. Scott Draves introduced the algorithm in the 1990s, and its swirling plumes became a staple of generative art and screensavers.

- 02Nebula-like color plumes
- 03Dark background, bright cores
Why it happens
A chosen set of nonlinear functions is applied to points over millions of iterations, then log-density tone mapping and a color palette reveal the structure.

Image edit prompt“Transform this image into a fractal flame: weave silky, glowing plumes and spiraling filaments through the scene, colored in luminous gold, magenta and electric blue with log-density glow, bright white cores fading into a deep black background and smoke-like feathered edges. Keep the original subject and composition.”
