Risograph
A Japanese stencil duplicator from Riso Kagaku, adopted for zines, posters and school print runs from the 1980s onward. Each color prints in its own pass, giving grainy, saturated, slightly misregistered results with handmade charm.

Spot it
- 01Fluorescent flat ink colors
- 02Grainy halftone texture
- 03Slight misregistration offsets
Why it happens
A heat-cut master wraps a drum and pushes soy-based ink through its perforations onto paper, one spot color per pass, so layers overprint and never align perfectly.

Image edit prompt“Reprint this image as a two-color risograph: fluorescent pink and teal ink on uncoated off-white paper, grainy stochastic halftone shading, overprinted areas turning deep purple, slight misregistration between layers, uneven ink density and visible paper texture. Use only those inks. Keep the original subject and composition.”
