Time-Lapse
A technique that shoots frames at long intervals and plays them back at normal speed, compressing hours or days into seconds. Godfrey Reggio’s Koyaanisqatsi (1982) popularized its sweeping city and sky studies for feature-film audiences.

Spot it
- 01Streaking car light trails
- 02Racing clouds and shadows
- 03Crowds as flowing blur
Why it happens
Capturing one frame every few seconds or minutes and projecting at normal speed multiplies apparent motion, so slow change becomes fluid and fast.

Image-to-video prompt“Animate this image as a locked-off time-lapse: clouds race across the sky, shadows sweep steadily across the ground, lights flicker on and off, and any people or vehicles become streaks of ghostly motion blur. Compress a full day into five seconds with a perfectly still tripod camera. Keep the original scene and composition.”
