Particle Systems
A computer-graphics technique that simulates fuzzy phenomena such as fire, smoke and sparks as swarms of tiny points. William Reeves devised it at Lucasfilm for the Genesis Effect sequence in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982).

Spot it
- 01Swarm of glowing points
- 02Fiery trails fading out
- 03Soft additive color blending
Why it happens
Thousands of small particles are emitted with random speed, lifespan and color, each moves under forces like gravity, and their combined glow reads as one organic mass.

Image edit prompt“Transform this image so the main elements dissolve into a particle system: thousands of tiny glowing sparks and embers streaming off the edges like fire, with additive orange-gold blending, fading motion trails, drifting smoke-like point clouds and a dark background lit by the particles. Keep the original subject and composition.”
