Mirror Repeat
A symmetry effect that reflects part of an image across an axis, building kaleidoscope-like patterns. Digital mirror and kaleidoscope filters made it an easy staple of 2000s visual effects, music visuals and psychedelic wallpapers.

Spot it
- 01Perfect axis symmetry
- 02Kaleidoscope wedge patterns
- 03Visible seam down center
Why it happens
Pixels from one side of a chosen line are copied and flipped onto the other, and repeating the reflection around a point produces radial symmetry.

Image edit prompt“Apply a mirror-repeat effect to this image: reflect the left half onto the right across a crisp vertical seam, then fold the picture into a six-way kaleidoscope pattern around the center with repeated reflected wedges, matching edges and rich saturated color. Keep the symmetry exact. Keep the original subject recognizable and the composition centered.”
