Ink Bleed
A look in which ink spreads softly into paper fibers, creating feathered edges and organic blooms. It echoes sumi-e painting and letterpress printing and is popular in modern illustration and typography.

Spot it
- 01Feathered fuzzy edges
- 02Pooled dark blooms
- 03Visible paper fibers
Why it happens
Liquid ink wicks along the paper's fibers by capillary action, spreading unevenly beyond the line and pooling where more ink was deposited.

Image edit prompt“Redraw this image as an ink bleed on textured paper: black and sepia ink soaking into cream paper fibers, feathered organic edges, darker pooled blooms where lines meet, faint watery halos, splatters and fine grain visible. Make it look hand-printed and slightly imperfect. Keep the original subject and composition.”
