3D Gaussian Splatting
A real-time method for rendering scenes captured from photos as millions of soft 3D blobs. Researchers at Inria introduced it in 2023, and it quickly spread through scanning and graphics communities.

Spot it
- 01Soft translucent blobs
- 02Floating haze artifacts
- 03Sparkling view-dependent shine
Why it happens
A scene is represented by many colored 3D Gaussians optimized to match photographs, and rendering projects and blends them in order, giving fast, photoreal novel views.

Image-to-video prompt“Animate this image as a 3D Gaussian splat scan: the camera slowly orbits around the subject, surfaces made of millions of soft, slightly translucent colored blobs, view-dependent glints, faint floaters and haze near the edges, soft detail loss at the periphery and a dark empty background. Keep the original subject and composition.”
