2.5D Parallax
A motion effect that adds depth to a flat picture by separating it into layers and moving them at different speeds. Documentary editors used it for decades, and depth-estimation tools made it easy in the 2020s.

Spot it
- 01Layered depth movement
- 02Foreground shifting faster
- 03Slight edge stretching
Why it happens
A depth map splits the picture into planes, and moving the virtual camera slides near layers farther than distant ones, creating parallax and a convincing sense of 3D.

Image-to-video prompt“Animate this image with a 2.5D parallax camera move: slow smooth lateral drift with a gentle push-in, foreground elements sliding noticeably faster than the midground and the distant background moving slightly, small soft depth-of-field changes and floating dust. Keep edges clean. Keep the original subject and composition.”
