Frangi Ridge Filter
A vesselness filter introduced by Alejandro Frangi and colleagues in 1998 to highlight tubular structures such as blood vessels. It also brings out veins, cracks, roots and other thin, branching lines.

Spot it
- 01Bright branching networks
- 02Black empty background
- 03Tapering thin vessels
Why it happens
Computes the Hessian matrix at several scales and scores pixels whose eigenvalues show strong curvature across a line and almost none along it.

Image edit prompt“Convert this image into a Frangi ridge filter result: a pure black background where only thin tubular structures glow, such as veins, branches, cracks, hair strands and fabric threads, drawn as bright white-cyan branching networks that taper at the ends. Flat areas stay completely black. Keep the original subject and composition recognizable.”
