Fourier Magnitude Spectrum
The 2D Fourier transform converts an image into its spatial frequencies, shown as a bright centered map. Strong lines in the picture create streaks in the spectrum, revealing patterns hidden in the pixels.

Spot it
- 01Bright central cross
- 02Radial frequency streaks
- 03Black field with glow
Why it happens
The image is decomposed into sine waves of different frequencies and directions; the output plots each wave's strength, with low frequencies at the center.

Image edit prompt“Show this image as its Fourier magnitude spectrum: a black square with a bright glowing center, radial streaks and a cross shape pointing perpendicular to the strong lines in the picture, logarithmic scaling, white and grey tones only. Keep the picture's structure recognizable in the pattern.”
