Film Tinting
Silent films were dipped in dye baths so entire scenes glowed in one color: amber for day, blue for night, red for fire. Used from the 1900s through the 1920s to set mood.

Spot it
- 01One uniform wash of color
- 02Amber, blue or green scenes
- 03Clear white highlights tinted
Why it happens
The whole film base or emulsion is dyed, so every highlight takes on the hue while the silver image still provides dark shadows.

Image edit prompt“Apply silent-film tinting to this image: a single saturated amber dye wash across the whole frame, black-and-white detail still visible beneath, tinted highlights, deep shadows, soft flicker-like gradation, fine film grain, scratches and the faint edge wear of a nitrate print. Keep the original subject and composition.”
