Kinemacolor
An early additive color film system developed by George Albert Smith and Charles Urban, patented in 1906 and shown publicly in 1908. Its two-color red-green images had odd, shifting fringes around moving things.

Spot it
- 01Red and green fringes
- 02Limited orange-teal palette
- 03Colored halos on motion
Why it happens
Black-and-white film is shot through alternating red-orange and green filters and projected through matching filters, so the eye merges two records; fast motion falls out of register.

Image edit prompt“Recolor this image as a Kinemacolor two-color film frame: only orange-red and green hues, muted skin tones, blue-ish gray, slightly misaligned red and green color fringes around edges, soft focus, strong flicker, fine film grain and gentle scratches. Keep the original subject and composition.”
