Reverse Motion
Footage played backward so action seems to unwind: broken things mend and swimmers leap onto platforms. Early filmmakers, including the Lumière company, discovered it by running film in reverse.

Why it happens
Frames recorded in forward order are played in reverse, so motion and physics appear to run backward, including the decay of motion blur and falling objects.

Image-to-video prompt“Animate this image as reverse-motion footage: everything moves backward in time, scattered pieces drifting back together, ripples contracting into the point of impact, smoke being drawn into its source and dust settling upward. Silent-film flicker, hand-cranked timing, soft grain. Keep the original subject and composition.”
