Dot-Matrix Printout
Images and text made by an impact printer that strikes a ribbon with a grid of tiny pins. Dot-matrix printers spread through offices and computer labs in the 1970s on perforated tractor-feed paper.

Spot it
- 01Visible coarse dot grid
- 02Horizontal banding lines
- 03Perforated tractor-feed edges
Why it happens
A print head of pins fires dots through an inked ribbon onto paper line by line, so shapes are built from discrete dots and slight misalignment shows as banding.
