Animatronics
Mechanically animated puppets that move with motors and cables. Disney's Audio-Animatronics debuted in the 1960s, and 1970s films such as Jaws brought large mechanical creatures to cinema.

Why it happens
Servos, pneumatics or cables move an armature under a flexible skin, so motion is limited to preset ranges and often has a slightly stiff, mechanical quality.

Image edit prompt“Restyle this image as a 1970s animatronic figure: the subject is built from glossy painted latex or foam, with subtle seam lines, glassy fixed eyes, slightly stiff pose, faint cable and armature hints at joints, soft studio lighting and a practical movie-set background. Keep the original subject and composition.”
