Digital Color Grading
The post-production practice of shaping a film's color and contrast digitally after scanning or shooting. O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) was the first major feature fully graded this way, and it reshaped how movies look.

Spot it
- 01Sculpted color palette
- 02Controlled contrast curves
- 03Stylized skin and sky
Why it happens
Footage is stored as a digital intermediate, so lift, gamma, gain and selective color adjustments can be applied precisely to shadows, midtones and highlights.

Image edit prompt“Apply a deliberate cinematic color grade to this image: gentle S-curve contrast, slightly lifted blacks, desaturated greens and blues, warm-golden skin tones and highlights, cooler shadows and a subtle film-like roll-off in the brightest areas. The grade should feel like a polished feature-film look. Keep the original subject and composition.”
