Texture Mapping
A computer graphics method that wraps a flat image around a 3D surface. Edwin Catmull introduced it in 1974, letting simple shapes carry detailed color without extra geometry.

Spot it
- 01Flat pattern on 3D shape
- 02Visible perspective stretching
- 03Slightly pixelated surface detail
Why it happens
Each point on a model surface is assigned coordinates into a 2D image, and the renderer looks up the color for every pixel it draws.

Image edit prompt“Render this image as an early 1970s texture-mapped 3D object: a simple low-polygon shape wrapped in the picture, with slight perspective stretching, visible pixel stepping on the texture, flat lighting and a plain dark gradient background typical of early computer graphics demos. Keep the original subject and composition recognizable.”
