Why it happens
Pages are built from a fixed grid of characters and two-by-three mosaic blocks, with only a few colors available, so every image must be drawn from coarse blocks.

Image edit prompt“Redraw this image as a 1970s teletext page: coarse two-by-three mosaic blocks in pure red, green, yellow, blue, magenta, cyan and white on black, no gradients, jagged stair-step edges, a bold colored header bar and soft CRT glow. Keep the original subject and composition recognizable.”
