Spirograph
Looping geometric patterns drawn by rolling a toothed wheel inside or around a toothed ring. British engineer Denys Fisher turned the idea into a popular drawing toy in 1965.

Why it happens
A pen in an off-center hole of a rolling gear traces hypotrochoid and epitrochoid curves, whose repetition around the ring produces dense, symmetrical rosette patterns.

Image edit prompt“Redraw this image using Spirograph patterns: the subject is formed from overlapping looping rosette curves drawn with fine ballpoint pen lines in red, blue, green and purple on cream paper, with symmetrical gear-traced circles, tiny ink variations and visible paper grain. Keep the original subject and composition.”
