Liquid Light Show
Moving projections of oil and colored dyes squeezed between glass dishes on overhead projectors. Artists performed them behind rock bands at late-1960s San Francisco concerts, creating blobbing, living color across walls and ceilings.

Why it happens
Light from the projector passes through immiscible oil, water and dye; surface tension forms drifting bubbles whose thickness filters the light into saturated, constantly changing colors.

Image-to-video prompt“Animate this image as a 1960s liquid light show: colored oil and ink slowly bloom, split and merge over the picture, magenta, orange and teal bubbles pulsing outward from the center, soft projector glow and round dish vignette. Slow, hypnotic organic movement over eight seconds, static camera. Keep the original subject and composition visible through the color.”
