Reinhard Color Transfer
A simple way to give one image the color mood of another, published by Erik Reinhard and colleagues in 2001. It matches the average and spread of each channel in a decorrelated color space.

Spot it
- 01Borrowed palette mood
- 02Preserved image structure
- 03Unified color cast
Why it happens
Converts both images to a decorrelated lαβ color space, shifts and scales each channel of the source to match the mean and standard deviation of the target, then converts back.

Image edit prompt“Apply a Reinhard color transfer to this image: re-grade it to match the color statistics of a warm sunset scene, with orange-pink highlights, deep teal-purple shadows and matching overall mean and contrast, while keeping all structure and detail unchanged. Keep the original subject and composition recognizable.”
