Displacement Map
A second grayscale image controls how far each pixel of the first is pushed, so textures and surfaces can bend the picture. It is used for heat waves, fabric wraps and glass distortions.

Spot it
- 01Texture-driven warping
- 02Pixels pushed by pattern
- 03Rippled surface bending
Why it happens
Each pixel looks up a brightness in the map, which sets a horizontal and vertical offset, and the output samples the source image from that shifted location.

Image edit prompt“Distort this image with a displacement map made from a fine cloth-like texture: details pushed sideways and up and down by the pattern, as if the picture were printed on crumpled fabric, wavy distortion, visible texture warping. Keep the original subject and composition.”
