Wave Displacement
Pixels are pushed sideways or vertically along a sine wave, so straight lines ripple as if seen through water or heat haze. It is a standard distortion in photo editors and video titles.

Spot it
- 01Rippling straight lines
- 02Smooth sine-like waves
- 03Underwater shimmer
Why it happens
Each pixel is sampled from a position offset by a sine function of its row or column, with wave amplitude and wavelength setting the strength of the ripple.

Image edit prompt“Apply a wave displacement to this image: smooth horizontal sine-wave ripples that bend all straight lines, like looking through rippling water or heat haze, moderate amplitude, softly stretched details, colors and sharpness otherwise unchanged. Keep the original subject and composition.”
