Delaunay Triangle Mosaic
Points scattered over the image are joined into triangles that avoid thin slivers, then each triangle is filled with one color. Boris Delaunay described the triangulation in 1934; it creates a faceted, low-poly look.

Spot it
- 01Flat-shaded triangle facets
- 02Smaller triangles on edges
- 03Crisp polygon seams
Why it happens
Seed points are chosen, often concentrated on edges, and joined so no point lies inside another triangle's circumcircle; each triangle takes its average color.
