Stop Trick
The first cinematic special effect: filming is paused, something in the scene is changed, and filming resumes so objects seem to appear, vanish or transform. Georges Méliès popularized it from 1896 in his trick films.

Spot it
- 01Sudden vanishing or swapped objects
- 02Locked-off static camera
- 03Jittery silent-film motion
Why it happens
Camera and frame stay fixed while the cameraman stops, alters the set, and restarts, so the spliced footage shows an instant change with no transition between shots.

Image-to-video prompt“Animate this image like an 1896 trick film shot from a locked-off tripod. Hold the camera completely still, then at the two-second mark make the main subject vanish in a single frame with a puff of white smoke, leaving the empty set. Flickering orthochromatic black-and-white, hand-cranked jitter, scratches and dust. Keep the original subject and composition.”
