Kirlian Photography
A contact-photography technique that records the electrical corona around an object placed on film under high voltage. Semyon Kirlian discovered it in 1939, and it became popular in the 1970s as a mystical aura image.

Spot it
- 01Glowing corona outline
- 02Fine electric filaments
- 03Dark void background
Why it happens
A high-voltage, high-frequency field makes air ionize at an object’s edges, and the resulting corona discharge exposes the film directly as branching blue-violet streamers.

Keep the original subject and composition.”
