Hot Pixel Noise
Individual sensor pixels that read bright regardless of the scene, usually in long exposures or warm cameras. They appear as isolated colored dots, a telltale of astrophotography and sensor aging.

Spot it
- 01Isolated bright dots
- 02Colored specks in shadows
- 03Scattered fixed-position stars
Why it happens
A small set of pixels with leakage current record high values independent of light, so they stay fixed at the same positions and show as bright specks against dark areas.

Image edit prompt“Add hot pixel noise to this image: scattered single-pixel bright red, green, blue and white dots spread across the shadows and dark areas, like a long-exposure camera sensor, a slightly dark noisy base, the rest of the scene unchanged. Keep the original subject and composition.”
