Bayer CFA Mosaic
Most digital cameras put a red, green and blue filter over each sensor pixel in a pattern devised by Bryce Bayer at Kodak in the 1970s. The raw mosaic shows one color per pixel.

Spot it
- 01RGGB pixel checkerboard
- 02Green-tinted dark image
- 03Tiny single-color pixels
Why it happens
Each pixel keeps only one color value in a repeating 2x2 pattern of red, green, green and blue; demosaicing later interpolates the two missing colors at each pixel.
