Embossed Relief
A directional convolution that makes edges look like raised or pressed metal. Used since early photo editors to give images a tactile, stamped surface, like a coin or leather book cover.

Spot it
- 01Grey metallic surface
- 02Raised edge highlights
- 03Sunken shadow outlines
Why it happens
A kernel subtracts neighbouring pixels along one diagonal, so brightness changes light one side of each edge and darken the other, then the result is added to mid-grey.

Image edit prompt“Transform this image into an embossed relief: a mid-grey surface where edges look raised, with bright highlights on upper-left edges and dark shadows on lower-right edges, like pressed metal or stamped paper, subtle fine texture, almost no color. Keep the original subject and composition.”
