Pixilation
A stop-motion technique in which live people or objects are photographed one frame at a time and moved between exposures. Norman McLaren’s Neighbours (1952) used it to make actors glide and jerk like animated figures.

Spot it
- 01Jerky, gliding movement
- 02Floating, sliding figures
- 03Staccato motion trails
Why it happens
Shooting a real subject frame by frame with changing poses replaces natural movement with discrete jumps, so people appear to slide, hop and teleport in impossible ways.

Image-to-video prompt“Animate this image with pixilation: stop-motion style staccato movement at about eight frames per second, the subject sliding and hopping across the scene without walking, jerky pose jumps, objects drifting in small steps, flat even lighting and a lively 1950s short-film look. Keep the original subject and composition.”
