Image-to-Image Diffusion
An input image is partially noised and then denoised under a new prompt, so the output inherits its layout and colors while changing style or content. Techniques like SDEdit (2021) formalized it.

Why it happens
The input is noised to a chosen intermediate level of the diffusion process and then denoised with the new prompt, so a lower noise level keeps more of the original.
