Holography
A way of recording light waves so a flat plate shows a three-dimensional image. Dennis Gabor conceived it in 1947; Emmett Leith and Juris Upatnieks made the first laser transmission holograms in the early 1960s.

Spot it
- 01Monochrome green-red glow
- 02Floating translucent depth
- 03Speckled laser texture
Why it happens
Laser light scattered from an object interferes with a reference beam, and the film records that interference pattern; illuminating it again recreates the original wavefront and its depth.

Image edit prompt“Render this image as a laser transmission hologram on glass: a single-color ruby red or green glowing image floating in dark space, translucent with visible depth and parallax layers, fine laser speckle, faint interference ripples and a bright reflection on the plate edge. Keep the original subject and composition.”
