Aerial Photography
In 1858, the French photographer Nadar took the first known aerial photograph from a tethered balloon over Paris. Early aerial images used wet plates carried aloft, showing towns from an entirely new viewpoint.

Why it happens
A camera lifted high above the ground records the scene from above, where atmospheric haze lowers contrast and a swaying balloon adds slight blur to long exposures.

Image edit prompt“Restyle this image as an early balloon aerial photograph: a high, nearly overhead viewpoint, hazy low-contrast sepia-gray tones, soft atmospheric depth, tiny rooftops and streets, slight motion blur from the swaying basket, and chemical stains and dark corners from a wet plate. Keep the original subject and composition.”
