Combination Printing
A darkroom method in which several negatives are printed onto a single sheet. Oscar Rejlander's 1857 Two Ways of Life and Henry Peach Robinson's staged scenes used it to build elaborate pictures beyond one exposure.

Spot it
- 01Seamless staged tableau
- 02Dreamy painterly composition
- 03Slight visible blend seams
Why it happens
Different negatives are masked and printed one after another onto the same sheet of paper, with each part exposed separately so that elements from separate scenes unite in one image.

Image edit prompt“Restyle this image as a Victorian combination print: a theatrical, painterly tableau built from several blended negatives, with slightly different lighting on each layer, soft blended seams, dramatic clouds, warm sepia albumen tones and faint retouching marks. Keep the original subject and composition.”
