Multiplane Camera
An animation stand that shoots several glass layers of artwork at different distances for natural depth. Ub Iwerks built an early version in 1933, and Disney’s larger rig was used on The Old Mill and Snow White.

Spot it
- 01Layered parallax depth
- 02Soft out-of-focus foreground
- 03Painterly cel-and-glass look
Why it happens
Artwork painted on separate glass planes is moved at different speeds beneath a downward-facing camera, so near layers shift more than distant ones, mimicking real parallax and depth of field.

Image-to-video prompt“Animate this image like a multiplane-camera shot: separate the scene into painted layers, foreground foliage drifting past slightly out of focus, midground subject nearly still, background sky moving slowly, giving strong parallax as the camera creeps forward over five seconds. Warm, hand-painted storybook look with soft edges. Keep the original subject and composition.”
