Praxinoscope
Patented in 1877 by Émile Reynaud, the praxinoscope improved on the zoetrope by placing a ring of mirrors in the center. Viewers saw bright, steady animated loops without looking through slits.

Why it happens
As a drum of drawings spins, a ring of angled mirrors reflects each image to the same spot, so the eye sees a continuous, flicker-free animation.

Image-to-video prompt“Animate this image as a praxinoscope loop: the scene appears reflected in a ring of small mirrors at the center of a spinning drum, repeating a short hand-painted movement cycle with bright saturated colors and smooth steady motion. Warm gaslight, polished brass, fixed camera, 3-second seamless loop.”
